Meet our Founder
Dr. Melinda Marzolf
Dr. Melinda Marzolf is a primary care physician in Montrose, Colorado, with over a decade of experience caring for patients of all ages. She obtained her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency in Family Medicine. She is board-certified in Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. Dr. Marzolf is currently obtaining certification in Functional Medicine to further enhance her ability to provide high-quality, holistic care to her patients. She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and Institute for Functional Medicine.
Dr. Marzolf grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Colorado in 2012. She has wanted to be a physician since she was five years old. As a child, she spent a lot of time visiting hospitals to be with her mom, who had Type 1 diabetes. Her love for her mom and passion for whole-person care led to her career in Osteopathic medicine.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Marzolf enjoys spending time with her husband and three beautiful kiddos on their cattle ranch. She once was a dancing cow in a musical and fell in love with cows. Now, she’s living her dream and raising Highland cattle, in addition to 30+ chickens, a rather unsuccessful desert garden, and hopefully one day, alpacas!
Meet our Staff
Nichole VanDerwalker
Registered Nurse
Nichole VanDerwalker brings nearly 15 years of nursing experience to Balance Integrated Health and has worked in the Montrose area since 2018. Her background includes a wide range of nursing skills and care, including patient assessment and general home health; hospital nursing, including medical, surgery, cardiology and orthopedics; hospice and palliative care; mental crisis center; and healthy living.
While moving around the country as a child because her father was in the U.S. Navy, Nichole developed a deep desire to help others during the vulnerable parts of life. Through working as a nurse, that grew into a passion for helping others in a variety of ways from working in a hospital or a home to caring for people struggling with depression, anxiety, and drug and alcohol addiction to end of life care. As an adult, Nichole’s interests, both personally and professionally, have expanded to include approaching health from a more natural approach.
Nichole’s work experience includes Axis Health System’s Regional Crisis Center in Montrose; Montrose Memorial Hospital (now Montrose Regional Hospital); Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care in Colorado Springs; Mercy Regional Health Center (now Via Christi Hospital) in Manhattan, Kansas; and Parkview Medical Center and Pueblo West Home Health, both in Pueblo, Colorado. Nichole earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing at the Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Services at the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, as well as an Associate of Arts degree from Grand Rapids College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Personally, Nichole enjoys gardening, hiking, travel, reading and learning about new things. Married for more than 20 years, she and her husband, a local veterinarian, are the proud parents of three children, as well as two dogs and a lizard.
